Holy Spirit - Thornbury East  ||  St Anthony - Alphington

Baptism! What a wonderful Sacrament! First of all, it is a sacrament of Initiation, a new birth, a union with Christ, an entry into the Church of Jesus Christ and our parish family.
Dear Parents, you will need to come to one of our preparation sessions led by Fr Ireneusz, then bring your baby/babies to the Rite of Welcome (together with your Godparents) and, of course, to the Baptism Celebration on Sunday.
The decision by parents to have a child Baptised acknowledges a readiness and acceptance of their responsibilities to further their own faith and nurture and nourish their child’s faith journey. They are the first teachers of their child. Children learn through example, through the actions and words of those around them they are shown how to live life as a
follower of Christ. Yes, the actual ceremony of Baptism is important and special but it is really what occurs afterwards, the next day, the coming months and in the years to follow that plays a key role in developing the child’s knowledge and love of Christ. The assistance, support and guidance they receive will enable them to follow the values and teachings of the Gospel and to live with Christ in the everyday.

If you would like to baptise your baby please contact the Parish office on +61 3 94128439 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
