Vision Statement
St. Anthony’s is a Catholic parish primary school in Alphington, inspired by the mission of Jesus. We are guided by the principles and traditions of Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, founded on faith and service. Compassion, courage and determination are embedded in a learning environment that promotes a passion for learning, connectedness to each other and a sense of belonging to the community. Our quality teaching and contemporary practice motivate our students to succeed. We believe that working in partnership with our families has a positive and engaging impact on the lives of our students. St Anthony’s community brings faith and learning to life.
At St Anthony’s We:
- We pray as a community and celebrate important seasons of the church.
- We support students learning by providing targeted intervention on a needs basis by specialist teachers
- We are founded on the principles and traditions of Mary MacKillop.
- We reach out to others in the community with leadership from the S.R.C and social justice captain.
- We provide opportunities for students to engage in their work through interest/ability based tasks.
- We present work in a variety of ways catering for students’ multiple intelligences.
- We collaborate in order to plan, teach and assess our students work.
- We moderate common tasks so that we have a common standard.
- On our professional learning teams we participate in action research to inform our own learning about teaching.
- We work and play together to reach understandings about our work.
- We support our students and their families through our well being programs within a restorative practices framework.
- We inform our parents through formation nights relating to the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation.
- We participate in community events such as the Weetbix triathlon and the ride and walk to school day, and are involved in the ISSDA interschool sports
- program.
- We look after each other through our buddy classes and our connect groups. Parents always comment about the great sense of community that we have.

- We offer extra curricula music lessons in guitar and keyboard and offer the opportunity for singing lessons through a scholarship program supported by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
